Stone cottages across the lake at Darwin Lake

The village

A village around a lake, not a row of cottages

17 stone cottages, the Darwin Hall and 20 acres of woodland, all a short walk from the water.

Find your way around

Every cottage is named after a hall, castle or village of the Derbyshire Peak District. Groups come back because you are together without being on top of each other.

Two minutes from the air

Fly around the village

Over the lake, the cottages and the woods. You'll understand the place better than any page of text can manage.

The village across the lake

The place

Built from Derbyshire stone, watched over by ducks

The village sits in 20 acres of grounds and woodland at the edge of Darwin Forest, Two Dales, Matlock. The lake is stocked for coarse fishing, and Chatsworth, Haddon Hall and Bakewell are all within twenty minutes.

You may also recognise it: the village was a filming location for ITV's The Neighbourhood with Graham Norton.
